David James reveals all, exclusively for Cubo

David James reveals all, exclusively for Cubo

Not only does Cubo sponsor the Premier League (ish) big hitters AFC Shillington Under 16′s, but we also badge David James’ away kit – the ex-England number one, who now plies his trade at Bristol City.  And before you ask, our CEO is a City fan – that’s why.

Part of the bountiful package for being a sponsor is a chance to meet the giant of a man.  It was always going to be a fleeting visit, and so in preparation our esteemed CEO Kerry Simpson prepped his one question, and prepared to meet his team’s last line of defence.

Kerry: “So David, in your long and successful career, what’s given you the most pleasure in being a footballer?”

Jamo: (Long pause for thought) “Everything really. I just love it. I’m sort of a trainspotter … but for football.”

So there you have it.  The tabloids might have Ryan Giggs’s philandering and Gazza’s all-day benders, but we’ve got an exclusive on David James’ trainspotting-esque love of football.  You heard it here first.

Next week, we ask Luis Figo why on earth he did the Just For Men ads…

Dave Marshall – hanging up his calculator after 235 years service

After 235 years of diligent service at Cubo, our number cruncher extraordinaire Dave Marshall is hanging up his calculator and heading off to enjoy life pleasures.  An ardent QPR fan and squash maestro, he’s also a true gentleman.  Rumour has it the abacus had only just been invented when he first started on his glittering finance career, but all we can say is he will be sorely missed by everyone in the group.  Watch this space for news of Dave’s imminent leaving party (be afraid Dave, be very afraid) as well as details of our new financial whizz…

Welcome new cuboids – Lisa and Rachel enter the pleasure palace

Two new Cuboids have recently joined the ranks here, both in Cubo Creative.

Lisa Thomas is a new Group Account Director in Cubo Creative.  A blue chip marketing heavyweight across design, promotional and experiential campaigns, for the likes of Gordon’s Gin, Smirnoff, Baileys, Carling, Ribena, Lucozade, Horlicks, McDonald’s, KFC and Walkers, amongst many others.  Lisa’s perfect pleasure is camembert oozing with garlic, whilst flicking through her treasured copy of “1000 Things To Do Before You Die”.

Rachel Menashy joins as an Account Executive, and previously studied Fashion Promotion at University for the Creative Arts, specialising in Marketing & Communications.  Her career has covered everything from working at magazines such as Drapers and Sketchbook, to running front of house at numerous London Fashion Week shows.  Scoffing Maltesers ranks high on her list of pleasures, as does the common trait many of Cubo’s girls about town have – buying shoes.  She should fit in nicely then!

Ice Ice Babies – Cubo girls party with their idol…

Fellow Cuboids Ruth Roseweir and Lucy Quilliam relived a childhood dream a few nights ago at a News of the World knees up.  And interestingly by the looks of this photo, Vanilla Ice was pretty stoked by things too.  Dave Ody, or ‘Rainman’ as he’s known for his impressive ability to crunch numbers, managed to send an Elvis Presley lookalike to sleep though with his insights on algorithms and ECRM.
